Back in 1999, Lufthansa CityLine was the world’s first airline to launch a structured and officially certified environmental environment protection plan. As an award for its successful environmental management, Lufthansa CityLine has received the extension of its validation according to the European Eco Management and Audit Scheme, EMAS, every year since. At the same time, the company was recertified in accordance with the international environmental standard ISO 14001 for its comprehensive environmental management system. The certificates are valid for both company locations, Munich and Frankfurt.

In addition to annual internal and external monitoring audits, the entire management system for corporate environmental protection must be reviewed by external auditors for revalidation or recertification at least every three years. An environmental report provides the public with information on the status and goals of the company's environmental policy.
